The ASD-5 Series Positioner

A-T Controls, a Vytl company evolves its positioner portfolio with the introduction of the ASD-5 series, the next generation solution replacing the legacy SS2 and SS5 positioners. 

Designed to enhance reliability, simplify installation, and deliver in-depth diagnostics, the ASD brings modern performance and long-term support to applications that previously relied on SS2 and SS5 technology. 

The ASD-5 will serve as the primary replacement for most SS2 applications requiring weatherproof or intrinsically safe ratings. For applications that previously used SS5, the ASD-5 with Fail-Freeze option provides fail-in-place functionality while maintaining the advanced capabilities of the ASD platform.  

This transition ensures customers have a clear upgrade path while benefiting from improved technology and standardization. 

Why Upgrade to the ASD?

The ASD introduces several key improvements:  

  • Easy and quick auto-calibration  

  • Non-contact magnetic position sensor  

  • Usable with single or double acting actuators  

  • Digital smart positioner with HART protocol (Ver.7) 

  • Advanced diagnostics to monitor valve status and integrity 

While SS2 and SS5 are being phased out, customers can transition seamlessly to the ASD with comparable functionality and expanded capabilities.
